Hide media files on Android without using any app
Many of the android users are facing a problem due to media scanning of all the drives including the private ones. Users want to keep their pictures, videos in safe place but the built-in media scanner of Android OS is a big obstacle.
To get rid of this many people use many types of apps which can hide the media. But actually media is not hidden it is just bypassed by a method. The method is called .nomedia method. This method reduces the effort to download the app and hiding the media files. Android system uses this method to exclude a directory from media scanning.
Requirements

Procedure
- Connect your device with USB storage mode to PC(Windows is recommended)
- Navigate to directory which you want to hide from media scanning.
- Open Notepad or any other text editing software.
- Don't type anything just save the file and close the text editor.
- Now rename the file to ".nomedia".(Only nomedia extension,name of the file must be blank)
- Copy the file to directory which you want to bypass the media scanning.
Now you'll be surprised to see that your media files are hidden and not even recognized by Gallery , Media Player etc but they will be seen only when you navigate through file explorer.
Note:
Make sure you have disabled "Hide extensions for known file types" option in View tab in Control Panel-->Folder Options, otherwise you cannot rename the file extension.
