The Google maps for android has been updated to a new look with a complete overhaul in look ,added few features and removed few like offline availability, Latitude and hiding them.
Thanks to Easter egg feature which will allow users to download maps, which will let users to enjoy offline maps that is to download them to device and to view them with out data connection. The feature is called "OK Maps" its the phrase to search for inside app to enable offline maps.
This feature may not be easy as old "make available offline" but does the job by making it available to for offline use by saving a cache of that part of google maps.Naturally google Maps features that require a data connection to work will not work on this saved map.
The app has been updated with an easier way to download offline map caches-tap the search bar and at the bottom you'll find "Make this map area available offline." This will make the map available for offline this is an other way of doing it not as easy as the old found in older version but works. (The "OK Maps" shortcut will continue to function in the new version, Google says.)
Further,Some of the features are completely disabled in newer version(latitude) and will not work even in the older version of the maps.
Latest version of the maps can be downloaded form "Google Maps".
